Last summer I travelled back home to visit my Nan for her 90th birthday celebrations.
I spent the week playing with my children on the beach in the little coastal holiday town where she still lives today on the far North Coast of NSW.
As I walked the same worn pathways through the sand dunes and ate ice cream at the same beachside kiosk, my mind was flooded with the happy memories of childhood summer holidays spent with family & friends. One evening, glass of wine in hand, I sat on the old sun lounger in the garden and leafed through the photographs in her family albums. Pictures of my siblings and I barefoot & carefree in our 70s beachwear made me smile. A photo of the family eating mangoes for breakfast in Nan’s old kitchen. The photo of me in my favourite corduroy skirt with the little flower sewn on the pocket. I returned home that summer relaxed & inspired with a vision to create a collection that embraced all of the memories from my childhood summers. I sourced the softest cotton corduroy fabric to recreate that favourite skirt and created a signature print inspired by the floral pattern I remember on my Mum’s favourite summer blouse. The colours are my take on the iconic yellows and browns of the 70s.....sunshine in a fabric. I have tried to imbue the range with a sense of playful innocence and I hope this translates to you all when you are creating your own happy memories whilst wearing Indian Summer. With Love.......Lisa xx
